2. How to distinguish immobilizer system from CAS, EWS and FEM/BDC?
Distinguish by year:
EWS system: Straight blade key fob of 3, 5, 7 series around 2000-2004.
CAS2 system: 3, 5 series, Z4, X5, X3 around 2004-2006. One straight blade key fob with black logo.
CAS1 system: old model 7 series
CAS3: 3, 5 series before 2010
CAS4: 5 series after 2010, 1 series after 2011
CAS4+: 5 series after 2012
FEM/BDC: 1, 2, 3, 4 series after 2013 use FEM, X5 and X6 start to use BDC after 2015.
How to distinguish CAS?
If need to insert smart key fob to key slot and push start button, it is system before CAS3+, most possibility is CAS3. CAS2 is Straight blade key, CAS1 is 7 series and have key slot, CAS4 is to push start button without key slot.
